 The liver is located on the upper right side of our abdomen. Liver is the largest internal organ of human. The main function of the liver is to remove toxins and process nutrients from food. From the digestive system, the blood is filtered by the liver before leaving the body.

 Fatty liver occurs when there is too much fat in the liver, especially in people who have diabetes and who are overweight. Fatty liver disease is the accumulation of excess fat in the liver cells. It is normal to have some fat in the liver, but if the fat is more than 10 percent of the liver's weight, you have a fatty liver and you may have more serious complications.


 A fatty liver can be harmless, but sometimes too much fat can lead to inflammation of the liver. This condition is called steatohepatitis. It damages the liver. Sometimes excessive consumption of alcohol causes fatty liver inflammation. It is also called alcoholic steatohepatitis. Otherwise, this condition is also called non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.

 Eating too many calories can lead to accumulation of bile in the liver. When the liver doesn't process and break down fat the way it normally should, too much fat will accumulate.

 When the liver becomes too inflamed, the liver becomes scarred and very hard, a condition called cirrhosis. This condition often leads to liver failure. Fatty liver is becoming more common because people consume too much sugar and fat.
